Comprehensive 2-month stay review:

A great resort-style hotel with minor caveatsI stayed here for two months on business. As a Gold Elite member, I was upgraded to a higher floor in what felt like a premium room, around 300 sq ft. The hotel handles VIP/long-stay guests well, assigning a designated room manager as a direct contact point. The Room:On my first day, I experienced some bites in bed, but the staff immediately changed all the linens upon request. The only ongoing room issue was a slight musty/damp smell inside the wardrobe. Also, do not expect a sea view here; the entire hotel only offers Ocean Park views. Fortunately, the park view is actually quite nice and pleasant. Note that even for this premium, larger room category (though not a presidential suite), there was no bathtub.Dining & Surroundings:There are almost no dining options around the hotel. You will end up eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, so it is best to treat it like a resort. Luckily, the food is good, especially the daily buffets. Long-stay guests enjoy a 20% discount, which is a great perk. The Noise Issue:Since I had to work late into the night and do not have children, the mornings were challenging. From around 6 AM to 9 AM daily, the hallways were incredibly noisy with children running, screaming, and parents yelling or disciplining them. It made getting a good morning’s sleep impossible.Service & Convenience:The service is excellent. Since I frequently needed to bring gifts to friends, the hotel was very generous in providing paper bags whenever I asked. For those with a private driver, this hotel is exceptionally convenient. Cars can park at the main entrance to wait for you without being chased away, allowing you to head down at your own pace

Compared to the W Hotel (where I also stayed), the Marriott OceanPark is much more convenient for car/driver pick-ups, though the room here is slightly smaller. However for a standard stay, they feel quite similar as the beds are equally spacious and comfortable. Overall, a highly recommended stay if you manage your expectations regarding the morning noise.

The hotel is worth every penny. I picked it because I’m planning to spend a day at Ocean Park. The room, design, and buildings are modern and artistic. The bathroom is especially comfy, thanks to the big washbasin and nice shampoo.

The staff are also very friendly, always smiling at the customers. And the room service was super efficient and professional.

The pool is large, but the water is a bit shallow at 1.2 meters (perfect for kids, but maybe not so great for adults).

What really surprised me is how convenient the location is—it’s super easy to get to the bus station, metro station, and Ocean Park.

Overall, it’s an ideal choice for anyone wanting to tour Ocean Park.

I am a Marriott rewards member and this hotel is good for families; however the dining options are mediocre. It is located adjacent to Ocean Park and MTR (convenient access to Central Hong Kong). The rooms are comfortable but they charged us $210 USD to clean a small bag of clothes. Socks were $13! They took our laundry bag without giving us prices so be careful.

The breakfast buffet is decent if you can get it included in your price. Overall, the food options are terrible. Your best option is to walk to Southside Mall and get food/wine from City Market. I would not recommend Prohibition or Pier restaurant. They both made us sick.

Overall, I would not stay here again as a Marriott member. Stay at the Fullerton.

We are loyal Marriott members and have always enjoyed staying at Marriott Ocean Park Hong Kong. Unfortunately, our recent stay was disappointing, and we would like to share our feedback regarding both the room experience and the service recovery process.

1) Room Disturbance and Overnight Room Change

During our recent two-night stay, we experienced a serious issue with our room. Throughout the night, a loud and unusual noise, which appeared to be coming from the building's piping, air-conditioning or infrastructure, repeatedly disturbed our sleep. While intermittent at first, the noise became significantly worse during the early morning hours.

At approximately 4:00 a.m., the disturbance became so severe that we had no choice but to request a room change. We were subsequently moved to a smaller room on a higher floor at around 4:30 a.m. While we appreciate the assistance provided by the night manager, Daniel, and his apology for the inconvenience, the disruption severely affected our rest and negatively impacted our stay.

During our discussion, Daniel mentioned that he would like to make up for the inconvenience and indicated that he could assist with meals, bookings, or other services if needed. Given the late hour and our exhaustion, we did not pursue the matter further at that time and simply wanted to get some sleep before our commitments the following day.

2) Confusing Communication Regarding Compensation

The following day, we approached the front desk regarding a buffet brunch reservation and mentioned our business breakfast arrangement for four guests. Based on our previous conversation with the night manager, we enquired whether any assistance could be provided.

On the day of the breakfast, the restaurant staff informed us that the matter had already been addressed, which led us to believe that a goodwill gesture had been approved. We therefore expressed our appreciation to the team.

However, during check-out, we were presented with the full breakfast charges. After further discussion with the staff and management, a modest discount was eventually applied. While we appreciate this gesture, the communication throughout the process was unclear and inconsistent, creating confusion and unnecessary disappointment.

To be clear, our concern is not primarily about the value of the discount. Rather, it is about the expectations that were created and the lack of clarity regarding what assistance, if any, was being offered. Better communication and coordination among the team would have avoided this situation entirely.

3) Lack of Follow-Up

What has been most disappointing is the lack of follow-up after our stay. Wecontacted the customer service and we were asked to provide details regarding our next stay so that the matter could be reviewed further. We responded promptly with the requested information. Unfortunately, despite more than two weeks having passed, we have not received any response or update.

As loyal Marriott guests, we understand that operational issues can occur. What matters most is how they are handled. While the initial room issue was unfortunate, our greater disappointment stems from the service recovery process, the inconsistent communication, and the absence of any meaningful follow-up after we were specifically asked to provide additional information.

We hope management will review this experience carefully. Our intention is not simply to seek compensation, but to highlight areas where the guest experience and service standards fell short of the level we have come to expect from Marriott.

From Dissapointed Marriott Member.

I stayed at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott on March 19-20, 2026. While there were some positives—Alvin at the front desk was excellent, and the breakfast team at Marina Kitchen was friendly—several issues during my stay and the hotel's handling of my feedback left me deeply disappointed.

Room Condition

My room had visible rust on the bathroom sliding door frame and handle. The marble surface under the TV had noticeable stains and imprints, likely from a hot cup or pot left there for a prolonged period. These are not minor oversights, they suggest a lack of regular maintenance and attention to detail.

Service Lapses

I had a confirmed late checkout at 13:00, which was clearly noted on my registration card. Yet at 12:42, a housekeeper knocked on my door despite the Do Not Disturb sign being active. I had to answer in my underwear. This should never happen with a confirmed late checkout and DND enabled.

During breakfast at Marina Kitchen, food items were not replenished toward the end of the service, while chefs stood nearby chatting. The buffet was supposed to run until 11:00, but by 10:40, several items were empty and not refilled.

Service Recovery – The Real Problem

I provided detailed feedback to the hotel. My first reply was a generic, copy-pasted template by Assistant Guest Service Manager, Nancy Law, one I recognized because it was practically identical to a response I received after a previous stay. When I called this out, I received a slightly more personalized reply, but it framed the issues as a matter of my "expectations" rather than the hotel's own standards. The phrase "We will schedule a deep cleaning to meet—and exceed—your expectations" implied that basic maintenance was a special favor to me.

I asked directly whether the rust and stains were overlooked or simply ignored. That question was never answered by a subsequent reply by Guest Service Manager, Austen So. I requested to be invited to complete a post-stay survey so my feedback could be published. I was told the hotel "cannot control its delivery, a response that felt like an attempt to suppress honest feedback rather than to address it.

The Bottom Line

A hotel of this standard should not have rust in the bathroom, stained marble, or housekeeping disturbances during a confirmed late checkout. But what disappointed me most was the hotel's refusal to take accountability. Instead of answering my questions or acknowledging the failures, I received polite but evasive replies that shifted responsibility back to me.

I will leave it for other travelers to decide whether a rust-and-stain-free room and proper handling of late checkouts are too much to ask for.

I hope this review helps future guests make an informed decision, and I hope the hotel takes these issues seriously.
