The Starview (Kwun Tong)

I attended a banquet in this Cantonese restaurant. It was not full during weekdays. The interior decoration of the restaurant under the same brand was similar but there was a long and eye-catching marine fish and corals aquarium along the wall, matching its name. The staff service was good with one to one table standard. The quantity of food was enough with plentiful of ingredients. Serving plates were replaced by new ones several times. However, when the guest stepped on the platform, the projector projected image on the face of the guest, due to standing in front of the screen. The situation should be informed first to avoid embarrassment. The outdoor area for photography or ceremony was a merit. Since it was located on lower floor, using stairway instead of lifts was another option. Overall experience was satisfactory.

food was decent, i've had better dim sum here in hong kong, but the rice rolls and the turnip cakes were very good, the "beef noodle" wasn't too bad either ...again had better as well, the buns were average, overall for the price is was decent

On 14 Aug 2024, my wife and I, our elder son and younger daughter came. Living in Japan, our younger daughter yearns to have dim sum. Here the food met our expectations but no wow effect. In a crowded setting, the air conditioning was cool and the toilets were clean.

Today May 20 2024, we booked a table and visit your star view restaurant at 官塘location, it was the worst experience I can ever imagine from eating out experience!

You have so many location I really wonder how you train your manager in each location.

We booked a table of 8, the weather is not good and raining so at last only 6 person attended. When we first arrived we were seat at the 8 person table. It was nice and comfortable and they start serving tea. Then another aunt came told us our two other auntie cannot attended. Once they know, they came up to us demand us to change the table but we were already having tea and ready to order.

Therefore we asked the reason why we need to change table ? Your whole restaurant is empty. It literally EMPTY!

The waiter and the manager keep saying all the table was booked and set up for customer. I was shock it is 7:00 pm and only 10%, where are the customer if the table were seated. When are your customer coming in? Photo attached. Then the manager was rude and keep saying if you want the seat then sit. If you like to complain me go ahead to complain me too I don’t care. We set up the table for each customer. And then he start yelling. I never imagine how can people will accept this kind of service. If he doesn’t want the job or he doesn’t want to work here he could just resign no one need to put up with his attitude.

Please have someone look into since you have so many location.

Good food:
- prawn rice noodle roll was good, but I forgot to take a pic
- mushroom dumpling filling was quite good too. Normally, I find this dish in Vancouver restaurants to be just ok.
- crispy chicken mein - very good.
- Chinese sausage roll/bun - the sausage was really good. It's a little sweeter than the others I've tasted before in Vancouver.

Service seemed to be pretty good too, but not sure since my hosts are regulars at this restaurant.

Parking is ok in this mall. If you are willing to go down lower than the upper levels, you can find parking spots.
